This sensational wine of Friuli Venezia Giulia praises the denomination DOC Collio. 100% Merlot cultivated in the vineyard of the property, cultivated on soils composed by marl and clay with south exposition. After the manual harvest, the fruits are separated from the stalks. The fermentation-maceration starts and lasts for 15 days. The maturation, managed in oak barrels, lasts for 12-15 months. The wine is then assembled in steel containers. After the bottling, the wine ages for other 5 months. Merlot has a long tradition in Friuli. For this reason, it can be considered as a local variety. The one produced by Villa Russiz expresses all its best features thank to its fruity anf fresh profile, always balanced and persistent. Vinified in steel, it is left 12-15 months in barrique before the maturation in the bottle starts. The result is a strong red wine, suitable for every type of daily meal.
