A sensational wine that comes from a winery that is famous for the production of luxury whites. This international red wine was able to find in this territory and in this winery a particular declination of high level. In Friuli, Vie di Romans was able to produce a Merlot DOC that is soft, structured and, moreover, that offers a high potential of aging, that will make it sweeter through the years. This wine tells the most beautiful stories of Isonzo and of its region. Its aging lasts 18 months and it is managed in oak barriques. You will find yourself drinking true substance and at the same time, you will be caught by a unique touch, with intense and powerful flavours that, otherwise, are never intrusive. This wine recalls the image of the “good giant”. It has the denomination Friuli Isonzo DOC and it is vinified with 100% Merlot.
Features of the red wine Merlot Maurus DOC
This wine has a ruby red colour characterized by deep shades. At the beginning, the fruity perfumes take our memories to dark plums and mature wild fruits, enriched after a while by sweet spices and some vegetal shades. The taste is warm and soft, with a consistent tannin structure and a good persistence.
Recommended food pairings while tasting this red wine produced by Vie di Romans
It is totally perfect with red meat or game. Interesting could be the marriage with veal “rosette” and Savoy cabbage. It has to be served at a temperature that swings between 16 and 18°C in a wide glass that allows the right oxygenation.
