FOLONARI
The Folonari family produces wine from the 18th century, is led by the eighth generation with Giovanni Folonari, together with his father Ambrogio, and since 2000 have specialized in the production of elegant wines, with a strong character and with a strong territorial bond. The company, which was named Ambrogio and Giovanni Folonari Tenute, as a testimony to the great love for Tuscany, now owns six estates in the most representative and important territories of the region. Starting from the Chianti Classico area, more precisely in Greve in Chianti, where we find the estate of Nozzole and those of Cabreo, which since the 80s have given birth to wines of great importance, and revolutionary for a rather traditional area, like the Cabreo "La Pietra", a chardonnay vinified in wood and "Cabreo Black," 100% Pinot Noir. How not to mention a supertuscan like the "Il Pareto", from the estate of Nozzole, a Cabernet Sauvignon that has shown a great adaptation of the variety to that particular terroir. The Folonari family invested a lot in the territory of Montepulciano, land of Vino Nobile, with Torcalvano Gracciano, and of course in Montalcino with La Fuga, an estate dedicated to the production of the famous Brunello di Montalcino, owned by the sisters Fabia Cornaro dell'Acqua and Giovanna Cornaro Folonari, respectively wife of Ambrose and mother of John.Of great charm are the splendid cellars of the estates, which host large barrels and barriques destined to the aging of red wines, a place where you can breathe tradition, respect for it, in a modern key. From Montalcino we move to the nearby Montecucco where we find Vigne a Porrona, an area where varieties such as Sangiovese, Syrah and Merlot have shown a particular adaptation. To complete the picture lacked only an important territory, this time on the coast, was born so Campo al Mare, near Bolgheri, where the Folonari point to the maximum expression of cultivars that have always given remarkable results in the area, the vermentino among the white berries, while among the red ones space to international varieties such as merlot ,cabernet franc and petit verdot, from which the mighty Bolgheri Superiore DOC "Baia al Vento" was born. Recently, the family invested in the Collio area of Friuli, in the region of Friuli, realizing the project of Ronco dei Folo, aiming in this case to the enhancement of the native vines of an area known for suberbi white wines. The wines of the estates of Ambrogio and Giovanni Folonari have always been synonymous with authenticity and quality, we speak of a company that manages every year to conquer the most refined palates, thanks to products that are able to best represent the territories of origin.
