The “Vigne 50 anni” DOC Merlot of Vigne di Zamò Winery is a soft and fresh red at the same time, pleasantly spicy, with great persistence; it is produced with 100% Merlot grapes, grown in the company's vineyards of Rosazzo, Udine. After careful selection in the old vineyards during the mid-September harvest, the Merlot grapes macerate in wooden vats for a period of 20 days, alternating manual punching, pumping over and delestage. Subsequently, racking, traditional pressing of the marcs and racking into barriques take place. The wine is bottled after 18 months and refinement in the bottle takes place for a further 2 years.
Merlot Vigne 50 anni’s features
Upon organoleptic examination, this Friulian red wine shows an intense and deep ruby red colour; on the nose it expresses aromas of red fruit, leather, cocoa, coffee and spices in an overall enveloping sensation. On the palate it is decisive but harmonious in the complexity of tastes and balanced in its acidity. You can perceive the nuances of currant, black cherry, licorice and cocoa with a remarkable structure and persistence.
