The Syrah Sicilia DOC of the Mandrarossa winery is a prestigious and respectful wine of the Sicilian tradition. This vine has to be cultivated in red and thin sandy soils, rich of iron that reminds the desert sands which give an intense color and a great body to the wine. The original territory is at south-west of Sicily in the Agrigento province in Menfi. It is used 100% Syrah grapes which have the DOC Rosso Sicilia certification. The profit is 90 quintals per hectare and the density is 4500 trees per hectare. The soil is located at 150-250 meters above the sea level exposed at South, South-west. There is a maceration of the grapes for 8-10 days at 22°C. It follows a maturation process for 3 months in steel tanks at 10°C. Finally it takes place the aging period which lasts 3 months.
Characteristics of this Syrah
It has a dark and intense red color with clear purple reflections. The smell is fruity and floral with carob and fig aromas together with elder and lavender. The taste is structured, intense with the same aromas of the smell.
Suggested pairings with this Sicilian wine
It is perfect with grilled vegetables, middle-aged cheeses, lasagnas, roasted calf and beans soup. It must be served at 16-18°C in a Ballon wine glass.
