The Carthago is the most important wine of the Mandrarossa winery because it represents the winery itself, the territory and the tradition. It is a pure Nero d’Avola very soft, balanced, and decided: a very Sicilian wine with remarkable aromas and an incredible softness. The production area is located at Torrenova in Menfi in the Agrigento province. It is used 100% Nero d’Avola grapes. It is certificated with the DOC Rosso Sicilia. The cultivation soil is sandy, the profit is 95 quintals per hectare and the density is 4200 units per hectare. The soils are located at 150 meters above the sea level and the exposition is at south-west. There is a maceration step of 8-10 days at 22°-25°C and it follows the maturation is barrels for 12 months and finally 4 months in bottle.

This wine has an intense red color with vibrating purple reflections, extremely bright. The smell is intense with wild blackberry aromas together with ripe marasca cherry hints. The taste is net and defined, deep with date and maritime pine aromas.
