Zardetto
The winery house Zardetto works in the core of the DOCG Conegliano Valdobbiadene. A complex “terroir” characterized by an hilly area coming from the ancient glacier not far from the left shore of the Piave river at the same distance from the Dolomites and the Adriatic sea which tempers its climate. A difficult soil to cultivate but at the same time very generous. Vineyards with very steep slopes stolen to the hills by the farmers work. The cultivation area intends 15 different hamlets of about 18000 hectares whose 6100 dedicated to the viticulture. The vine is cultivated in the southern side of the hills at 500 meters above the sea level. The Zardetto cellar is everyday devoted to Saint Mauro a self-producing community which leads a simple and natural life under the protection of Saint Mor. There is also a river the Monticano that since 40 years ago was still used. During the First World War this area was under the Austro-Hungarian domination and there is still an Austrian building which was the basis of the commando today possession of Fabio Zardetto and part of a Museum. The today vineyard of the San Mor estate is implanted with Glera Prosecco and it is divided in to 5 areas to better adapt to the soil. Fabio Zardetto founder of this Company bought the estate in its 100° anniversary (1913-2013) and he wants to restructure the vineyard with implanting biological prosecco. The tradition impose a mulberry at the beginning of every raw as guardian of the grapes. In the north area of Conegliano there will be the laboratory where Fabio would research and valorize the Prosecco DOCG.
