Wine list | Bolgheri |
The only white wine produced by Grattamacco is the pure expression of the whites in a land where the red dominates. This wine praises the denomination Bolgheri Vermentino DOC and it is produced with 100% Vermentino. The vineyard, placed 100 meters above the sea level, reaches 1,50 hectares. The soil here is composed by mixed clays, flysch limestone and marls and the weather that touches the plants is Mediterranean-tempered. The 4500 stumps per hectare produce around 80 quintals. Two main training methods: spur-pruned cordon and simple guyot. The average age of the plants is 15 years old. The wine-making is managed for a half in steel, the rest in both new or used barriques, where the wine ages for 8 months. 6 months maturation in the bottle.
Features of “Bolgheri Vermentino Grattamacco”
The aspect of this fabulous wine of Tuscany shows an intense straw yellow colour. Its perfume recalls hints of yellow peach enriched by flowers and chamomile. The taste is characterized by soft sensations of mint, sage and almond that make this wine fresh and savoury, where the mineral structure dominates. The wooden aging gives smoothness, sweetness and a great persistence.
Recommended food pairings while tasting this wine of Tuscany produced by Grattamacco
Perfect with fish preparations. Due to its softness and its aroma, this wine goes on well with local starters, lich crunchy bread and cold cuts. You have to try it with veal fricassee and soft cheese. It has to be served at 12°C in a high, tapered wine glass that concentrates the perfumes.
