Produced from a blend of Corvina Veronese, Corvinone and Rondinella grapes, this Veneto red wine from Monte del Frà Winery originates from the Valpolicella Classica area: the vineyards are located at 250-450 m above sea level and benefit from tufaceous-clay soils. Harvesting takes place at the beginning of October and the grapes are left to dry in crates; this is followed by soft crushing and alcoholic fermentation in steel with frequent punching-down. Once alcoholic fermentation is complete, the skins of the Amarone are added, initiating a second fermentation: once this phase is complete, the wine is aged in wood for 20 months and then in the bottle for a further 5-6 months.
Characteristics of this Veneto wine
It presents a very intense ruby red colour. The olfactory profile is dominated by notes of cherry, plums, liquorice and tobacco. The palate is full-bodied, with an aftertaste reminiscent of the aromas on the nose. Excellent persistence.
Recommended pairings with this Veneto red wine
Try it with red meat dishes or cheeses. Also excellent with mushrooms. Serve at a temperature of 18°C.
