The red wines from Abruzzo

The Abruzzo is renamed for its cultivations that become very quality products. The red grapes are very important for the production of the wine from Abruzzo which are produced both with local vines and with imported ones. The cultivation and wine making methods are the traditional ones that since generations allow bringing to the market the local and unique aromas that remark every bottle.

All the Red wine from Abruzzo typologies are perfect to be matched with the local food, in fact the versatility of the DOC can exalt every course. The variety of the Red wine from Abruzzo

The reference point of the red wine from Abruzzo is the Montepulciano d'Abruzzo, both DOC and DOCG certified depending on the variety which is remarked by a strong and bodied aroma and taste. It is spread in the most of the territory and sometimes it ages in wood barrels and then in bottles.

Another remarkable one is the Villamagna, produced in the homonym area with Montepulciano grapes. It is structured and it is firstly aged in steel and lately in wood barrels. It has an intense ruby red color and in the aged version it has purple reflections with a harmonic and balanced taste. Finally there are Barbera wines, some wonderful Cabernet Sauvignon but also Merlot and Pinot Nero.

Suggested pairings

It is wonderful with structured main courses, red or white meats, and also with braised or roasted meats. It is very good also with aged cheeses and in general all the Italian and local food is a perfect mix for every perfect lunch or dinner.
