COLTERENZIO

In South Tyrol you can find some of the most important cooperative wineries not only in Italy, but in the entire world: very solid reality, whose mission is dedicated to reach the highest quality, and which can boast a production of undisputed excellence. Among these, Colterenzio has a leading position. It seems that already in the fifteenth century the archduke Sigismondo particularly appreciated the wines produced by Colterenzio, but some historical documents testify that the area was already suited to viticulture in the first century BC, when the Roman colonist Cornelius chose to found his farm " Cornelianum ”in these lands. Twenty centuries later, the territorial tradition has not disappeared, and in 1960 it has been renewed with the foundation of the Cantina Colterenzio, originally made up of just thirty members. Today, however, comprising about three hundred members, the winemaking reality of Colterenzio is one of the most important in the whole region. We are in Cornaiano, a small town near Appiano, Bolzano. A place where nothing is left to chance, where electricity is produced on site and where the beautiful and new structure is an example of sustainability for the entire national wine sector. The hectares of vines are currently about three hundred, and between the rows each agronomic practice is set up to respect the rhythms of nature and to enhance the peculiar character of the territory and fruit. Indigenous varieties and international varieties grow side by side, so in the vineyards you can find chardonnay and lagrein, merlot and schiava, gewürztraminer and cabernet, pinot nero and moscato giallo , pinot grigio and moscato rosa grapes , sauvignon blanc and müller thurgau. Bunches that are transformed in modern winemaking rooms using the most innovative enological technologies, thus giving life to a range of labels that can truly meet any consumer need. From the "Classic" line to the "Praedium" line, from the "Pfefferer" to the "Cornell" range, they are all wines, those produced by the Cornaiano winery, children of a very long development path, thanks to which bottles are now the fruit of the most refined winemaking craftsmanship.
