This red wine from the Piedmontese winery Bava is made from 100% Barbera grapes grown on the Pianoalto estate: the vineyards are clustered around the farmhouse on the hillside, and the more recent ones produce LIBERA, a Barbera d’Asti aged in the bottle. The wines from this estate are particularly elegant and best represent the distinctive characteristics of the classic Asti Monferrato region. Following the hand-harvest, fermentation takes place in stainless steel tanks, aided by gentle punching down, to ensure a delicate extraction of tannins. The wine is aged in the bottle before being released for sale.
Characteristics of this wine from the Bava winery
It has a very intense ruby red colour with an intoxicating aroma of wild plum, black cherry and pepper. On the palate, it is enveloping, with sweet hints of red fruit and a surprising smoothness.
Recommended pairings with this Piedmontese red wine
Try it with dishes featuring mushrooms, red meat and mature cheeses. Serve at a temperature of 16°C.
