COLLAVINI

The family tree of the Collavini winery allows us to look back until the end of the nineteenth century: it was in fact 1896 when Eugenio decided to found his own winery in the small town of Rivignano, in the province of Udine. At the beginning of his adventure, Eugenio used to supply the main noble families of the territory, as well as some commercial shops that, among many things, also sold wine. The command of the winery passed first to Giovanni, who led the company in the period between the two World Wars, and then to his son Manlio, a fundamental figure in the development of Collavini. Manlio in fact was one of the first to export Friulian wines to the world, realizing that the commercial horizons, in a climate of renewed international serenity, had to be expanded; not only that, he also dedicated himself to transferring the cellars to Corno di Rosazzo, and to introduce new grape varieties and winemaking methods. Today next to Manlio we find the sons Giovanni, Luigi and Eugenio, who watch carefully over the more than 170 hectares of property, which wind within the two most prestigious DOC of the whole region, the Collio and the Friuli Colli Orientali. In the vineyards are cultivated white and red berried grapes, both indigenous and international, such as chardonnay, pinot noir, ribolla gialla, pinot grigio, sauvignon, friulano, merlot, picolit, verduzzo giallo, pignolo, refosco, schioppettino and cabernet sauvignon. More than twenty labels are produced every year by the Collavini team, where next to a selection of white wines - among which the "Broy", Collio Bianco awarded with the 5 Grappoli from the Bibenda guide, and the "Blanc Fumat" stand out - and red, we find a remarkable selection of sparkling wines, where to shine is the Ribolla Gialla Brut, real intuition of Manlio, which since the '70s makes it one of the excellences among the Italian bubbles, as evidenced by the 3 Glasses awarded by Gambero Rosso.
