It is a prestigious wine of the Ferghettina winery. The denomination is Curtefranca and it is made with 50% Cabernet Sauvignon, 30% Merlot, 10% Nebbiolo and 10% Barbera grapes. The soils are located at 150-250 meters above the sea level on clay consistence. The cultivation is made with the Guyot method with a density of 5000 trees per hectare. The grape harvest takes place manually at the end of September. The destemming and the pressing are followed by the fermentation in steel tanks. The fermentation on the peels lasts 10 days with several pumping over. The vines are separately worked and then the wine is assembled after that it rests for 12 months in barrels. There is a further refinement on the yeasts for 12 months in barrels.
Characteristics of the Curtefranca Rosso DOC
It has a ruby red color with bright and wide reflections. The smell is complex of blackberry and raspberry together with pepper and tobacco hints. The taste is structured with persistent tannins.
