TUNELLA
The Tunella winery owns 70 hectares of vineyards, some reserved for traditional varieties such as Friulano, Ribolla Gialla, Picolit, Malvasia Istriana, Traminer, Schioppettino, Pignolo, and Refosco dal Peduncolo Rosso, and some for international grape varieties such as Chardonnay, Sauvignon Blanc, Pinot Grigio, Riesling Renano, Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon, and Cabernet Franc. The history of this Friulian company has its roots in the 1960s, when first Grandpa Min and then Dad Livio began a family tradition that continues to this day. The company took the name Tunella in 2002, replacing the previous "Livio Zorzettig": the new toponym recalled a farmhouse and a hill located near the company, in the heart of the Eastern Hills. The vineyards benefit from the so-called “ponca”, soil made up of alternating marl and sandstone, but also from the peculiar climate influenced by breezes coming from the nearby Adriatic Sea. Thanks to the energy produced with photovoltaic panels, this winery in Friuli-Venezia Giulia is participating in the integrated pest management program, with limited use of fertilizers and treatments. Through its wines, the Tunella winery reflects the most modern Friuli, while maintaining a strong connection with tradition.
