This prized Friulian white wine label, produced by the Bastianich winery, derives from approximately 75-year-old vines, grown on Eocene marl and limestone-based soils at approximately 120-150 m above sea level. The first harvest is carried out when the grapes are ripe, with subsequent pressing and cooling following the crushing-destemming phase. A second harvest takes place in several steps with partial botryisation of the grapes. The must is then subjected to fermentation and then filtered, after which it rests in stainless steel tanks and tonneaux for 12 months. After bottling, the product matures in the bottle for approximately one year.
Characteristics of Plus Bastianich wine
The organoleptic examination shows a golden yellow colour with intense aromas of mandarin, orange, melon and pear. Velvety on the palate, with full-bodied presence on the sip.
Suggested food pairings while tasting this white wine
When young, thanks to its freshness and good body, it is excellent with fried or raw fish, but is also perfect with spicy dishes, such as Indian or Thai cuisine. As the structure grows it becomes a wonderful match for soft or slightly matured cheeses such as Taleggio or Robiola. It should be served in large, tall glasses at a temperature of 10-12C°.
