“Orgno” is one of the most iconic and prestigious wines from the Fasoli Gino winery and represents an extreme expression of Merlot in the Verona area. It is born from 100% Merlot grapes from the Orgno vineyard, planted in 1978, located on calcareous soils mixed with clay and skeleton, which give the wine structure and complexity. Production is long and careful: the harvest is manual, carried out in early September, and the grapes are subjected to a long traditional drying process of about 80 days on trellises or nets, to concentrate aromas and extractive substances. This is followed by fermentation in temperature-controlled steel and a very long aging in French oak barriques that lasts at least 4 years, followed by further evolution in the bottle before being put on the market.
Characteristics of this wine from the Veneto
On organoleptic examination it appears with an intense and deep ruby red color. The bouquet is rich and complex, with notes of ripe red fruit, plum and cherry in spirit, accompanied by evolved hints of leather, truffle and licorice. On the palate it is powerful, velvety and structured, with a great balance between softness, freshness and alcoholic component, and a long and persistent finish.
Recommended pairings with this red wine from Fasoli Gino
It pairs with very structured dishes such as braised meats, game, important red meats and aged cheeses. It is also ideal as a meditation wine due to its richness and aromatic complexity. The recommended service temperature is about 18 °C.
