From the vinification in absolute purity of selected grapes from the Lagrein vine, the native Lagrein vine is one of the leading varieties of the territory. The origin of the vines lies in the lands along the “Tappeiner” promenade and over the roofs of the spa town of Merano, the “Segenbühel” area overlooks the town with its majestic steep slopes. It is the hottest and driest area of Merano and a real blessing (in German precisely "Segen"). The vinification involves fermentation in contact with the skins for about 10-15 days. It follows the biological malolactic fermentation and aging in barrique in oak barrels for at least 16 months.
Lagrein Riserva Segen DOCs features
A dark garnet red colour. The scent is fruity with a complex of aromas of licorice, leather, cherries and bitter chocolate. The taste shows well structured tannins and a soft and elegant persistent aftertaste.
