If we have a look on the past history of the variety Greco di Tufo, we can discover and understand a lot of things. Without the patient work of recovery done by Antonio Mastroberardino, the selection “Vigna d’ Angelo” and a long research on the composition of the soils, this variety would not exist anymore. This wine enhances the denomination “Greco di Tufo DOCG” and it is produced 100% with the local grapes. The vineyard rises in Santa Paolina, 400 meters on the sea level, with a south-west orientation and a soil rich of clay and limestone. The espalier with Guyot training produces, with its 3500 stumps, around 70 quintals per hectare. The vineyard is 15 years old and its harvest is managed manually in the first half of October. The wine making process is the classic white one, with steel containers and controlled temperature. The aging in the bottle lasts at least one month.
Features of this white wine produced by Mastroberardino
Its aspect shows a clear and bright straw yellow colour. The perfume is full of fruits like grapefruit, peach, pear and aromatic herbs. The taste is fresh, elegant and structured, with a lot of mineral sensations.
Recommended food pairings while tasting this “Greco di Tufo Vignadangelo” from Campania
It is perfect with soups, white meat, fish and crustaceans. It has to be served at 12°C in a high, wide wine glass that helps the diffusion of the scents.
