Produced with 100% Primitivo grapes grown in the alluvial vineyards located at Veglie, near Lecce, this Salento red wine from Conti Zecca Winery owes its name to the underground place where the inhabitants used to hide in case of danger: the place then gave the name to the farm itself, "Rifugio" precisely. After the manual harvest the bunches are subjected to de-stemming and soft pressing with subsequent maceration for 12 days at a controlled temperature. The fermentation phase takes place in steel while the maturation requires a stay in oak and concrete barrels.
