The refined and renamed Rosso di Montalcino of Col D’Orcia wine is produced in the Montalcino - Siena - Collina di Sant'Angelo area with a perfect exposition at midday. The grapes used for this fantastic wine are the Sangiovese that in Montalcino are called Brunello. These are the same grapes to produce the Brunello di Montalcino. There are 10-12 days of fermentation on peels at 28°C in stainless steel tanks of 150 hl with a shape that helps the extraction of the tannins and the moor red color. It follows the maturation process with the aging period of 1 year in Slavonia oak barrels of 75 and 150 hl. It follows an aging period in bottle of 6 months
Characteristics of the Rosso di Montalcino DOC
It has an intense ruby red color with purple reflections. The smell is intense, fruity and elegant with blackberry and strawberry aromas which are perfectly mixed with the barrels’ aroma gave by the aging period. The taste is structured, warm and bodied. It has soft and elegant tannins. It has a long aftertaste, persistence and pleasantly fruity.
