The Barolo Villero is a very important denomination for the Castiglione Falletto town. Here takes place the cultivation of the Nebbiolo grapes used for the production of the Barolo. The grapes are exposed at South-west at 230-350 meters above the sea level. The soil is clay, with limestone, blue-grey marl and compact grey sands. The cultivation is made with the trellised and the Guyot method. The vineyards are 30 years old. The density is 4000 trees per hectare and the profit is 75/80 quintals per hectare. There is a first step of pressing and destemming of the grapes, then a long maceration in stainless steel tanks under temperature control for 8 months. Finally a wood maceration for 24 months in big slavonia oak barrels.
