OCCHIPINTI
Arianna Occhipinti's relationship with her land is marked by a deep, almost visceral love. An unbreakable bond, according to very few other wines are able to embody their territory of origin in such a didactic and faithful way. Graduated in Viticulture and Oenology in Milan, Arianna Occhipinti immediately ventured in order to create one of her farms along Provincial Road 68, which leads Vittoria near Ragusa to the north. Today we can speak of a widely successful challenge, and even more: it is here that some of the greatest wines, not only Sicilian, are born, from an absolutely natural agricultural regime and produced from Nero d'Avola and Frappato grapes. The scenario is that of Fossa di Lupo, a place where the earth turns red in the evening and is swept by the winds coming from the mountains of south-eastern Sicily. It is here that, row after row, Arianna Occhipinti's farm now extends over twenty hectares of vineyards, divided between the districts of Bombolieri, Bastonaca and Pettineo. In the vineyard, the plants on average exceed twenty years of age, with some vines reaching even half a century. In the cellar the spaces are large and modern, but the logical thread that is followed is the same as that found in the vineyard: sobriety, naturalness and concreteness, as well as authenticity, exaltation of the terroir and all its characteristics. The result is simple, and given by wines that stand out for their complexity and freshness, pleasantness, elegance and persistence. In a few words, Occhipinti’s wines are among the best one of Sicily.
