CANTINA DI MERANO MERAN
The first stone for the foundation of the Merano Winery was laid in 1901 with very few winegrowers. Today, after more than a century and the merger of Burggräfler Winery and Merano Wine Cellar in 2010, the wine cooperative has over 360 members. It was only with their support that the renovation and expansion of the winery was successfully carried out. The reopening in June 2013 inaugurated a new era. Quality in the vineyard, work and quality in the glass of wine have the highest priority. The origin and provenance of the grapes must always be recognisable. Wine must remain faithful to its "roots" as a synonym of transparency, character and authenticity. Every single bottle becomes a truly special experience. For generations, winegrowers have been successfully cultivating their vineyards on the fertile soil of the hills and mountainous slopes around Merano and Val Venosta. At altitudes between 300 and 900 m above sea level, exposure to sunlight, soil characteristics and the microclimate often change from one vineyard to another. The interaction between Alpine freshness and Mediterranean warmth and the high temperature range between day and night, give wines a very particular finesse, but also a characteristic aroma.
