Albatraia is composed by 100% Ciliegiolo grapes, cultivated in our vineyards. Its name comes from a typical plant diffused in this area. It has been produced for the first time in 1955 and it was a success. The vineyards are located on lands with 350 meters elevation and a south-west orientation. Guyot training method that develops around 70 quintals per hectare. The wine making is managed in steel containers with thermal regulation. The maceration process lasts around 10 days, depending on the harvests. 6/8 months in oak barrels, where the malolactic fermentation takes place. 4 months aging in the bottle.
Features of “Ciliegiolo” by Villa Patrizia
Ruby red colour enriched by aromatic scents of red fruits like strawberry, raspberry and cherry. Its taste is wide and enchanting, soft and juicy, balanced and sour, with an interesting final that turns to bitter.
Recommended food pairings while tasting this red wine
It represents the perfect marriage with the local kitchen of Tuscany, but it is perfect with appetizers too. It should be served at 14°C in a high, wide wine glass that helps oxygenation.
