A red wine of the Tuscan tradition produced by the cellar Gill . It boasts the denomination IGT Rosso Toscana and is vinified in blend with grapes for 70% of Merlot , 25% Sangiovese, and 5% Cabernet Sauvignon. Brancaia THE BLUE, IGT Red Tuscany represents the flagship product of the Brancaia brand. This IGT shows how it is possible to create an elegant, complex and intense wine in Brancaia. For many wine lovers around the world, this wine is already a classic - perhaps also because it shows in all vintages a strong identity that reflects the character and level of our vineyards in the Chianti Classico area. The grape harvest takes place in the second half of September to allow the grapes to reach the right degree of ripeness. The vinification involves a first phase of fermentation at a controlled temperature of 28° C, followed by a permanence of the wine must on the skins for at least 18 days. Maturation takes place in new barriques for 2/3 of the product and in 2nd passage barriques for the remaining 1/3 of the product. This is followed by the important refinement phase which includes 20 months of elevation in barriques and subsequent 24 months in the bottle.
Characteristics of IL BLU red wine
On organoleptic examination, this symbolic wine of the Brancaia winery shows a ruby red colour. The nose expresses a very compact olfactory profile from which notes of sour cherries and blackberries in jam initially emerge followed closely by hints of black pepper, currants, cocoa. The taste on the palate is silky and elegant, characterized by a certain warmth and a tannic texture as dense as it is defined and never intrusive. It closes with a nice return to the fruit for a finish of excellent persistence.
