Braida
No other winery identifies itself with a vine like Braida with Barbera. The work that Giacomo Bologna has in fact carried out in recent decades has no equal, and has opened the way to an entire generation of winemakers who, after him, have begun to work in a convinced way this variety previously so little appreciated. It can be said that it was Giacomo Bologna himself, with the "Bricco dell'Uccellone" and with other wines that have made the history of Italian enology, who upset what were the most common beliefs about Barbera. Studying soils and expositions, waiting for their complete maturation, working it at its best in the cellar, Giacomo Bologna was able to demonstrate the quality, the finesse and above all the longevity that was possible to obtain by vinifying the Barbera grapes. Today the company represents the faithful image of Giacomo’s philosophy, of his way of understanding life, land, wine and relations with friends. The sons Raffaella and Giuseppe, both oenologists, constitute the third generation of the "Braida", and are united by the dream and enthusiasm of continuing Barbera that conquest of nobility and quality started by his father. Being able to count on over sixty hectares of vineyards, the company sees its rows arranged mainly in the lands of Rocchetta Tanaro, to which over the years have been added the plots of Castelnuovo Calcea, Costiglione d'Asti, Mango d'Alba and Trezzo Tinella. Grapes cultivated and harvested in territories highly suited to viticulture, are processed in the cellar with the help of the most modern and sought-after oenological technologies, always used in full respect of the oldest traditions. This is how for years the Braida family has been synonymous with Italian drinking in the world, thanks to labels that, in addition to the "Bricco dell'Uccellone", express themselves in names such as "Montebruna", "La Monella", "Il Baciale'", "Bricco della Bigotta" and to follow all the others. Wines born under the sign of the revival of Barbera, and now a symbol of the highest Piedmontese and Italian wine excellence.
