The “Frappato” word comes from the word “fruity” which is a characteristic of this Sicilian wine. This frappato wine born on sandy soils which give a vibrating color, intriguing aromas of little red fruits and persistence and pleasantness. The production area is located in Menfi on the south west of Sicily and the grapes used are 100% Frappato which is a local vine respectful and representative of the Sicilian land. It has the IGT Terre Siciliane certification. The soils are located at 250 meters above the sea level and the density is 5000 trees per hectare cultivated with the trellised and Guyot method. The manual grape harvest takes place in the first decade of September and the grapes are destemmed and softly pressed. There is a maceration of the must in steel tanks for 5-8 days at 22°C. Finally the wine must age for 6-8 months in cement and steel tanks.
Characteristics of the Frappato Terre Siciliane wine
It has a ruby red color with wide and clear purple reflections. The smell is also wide and it has marasca cherry and black cherry aromas together with little red fruits and spicy sweet hints. The taste is sapid, persistent and enveloping. It is also inviting.

The red wine Frappato of Mandrarossa is a versatile wine perfect both with starters, and with fish soups, meats rolls, vegetables omelets and grilled chicken. It has to be served at 14°C in a wide and tall wine glass.
