The name of this exceptional Sicilian wine recalls the shape of the soil where the Chardonnay vines rise. This vine favours dry soils once covered with water rich in humus and nutrients that make it enveloping and pleasant. The geographical area where the vines are grown is that of south-western Sicily, in the municipality of Menfi in the province of Agrigento. The grape variety used for its vinification is 100% pure Chardonnay. The classification is that DOC White Sicily that certifies the Denomination of Controlled Origin. The soil is clay and medium-textured.The yield of vineyards reaches 80 quintals per hectare and the density is a maximum of 4500 vines per hectare of land. All soils are at an altitude between 150 and 300 meters above sea level and have a prevailing exposure to the south and south east for 25%. The vinification process involves the cryomaceration of the grapes, fermentation in steel tanks at a controlled temperature of 16 º C - 18 C. Then follows the maturation that provides for a stay of 3 months in steel tanks at a controlled temperature of 10 º C and finally 3 months in the bottle before marketing.
Chardonnay "Laguna Secca" Sicilia DOC's features
The organoleptic analysis gives us a wine with an intense straw yellow color with golden-green reflections. The scent is characterized by hints of orange peel and ripe prickly pears that are well integrated with light notes of oleander flowers. The flavor is powerful, enveloping, with good and pleasant minerality that makes it persistent in the mouth. It should be served in a high and wide glass for white wines at a temperature of 12 º C maximum.
