CIACCI PICCOLOMINI D'ARAGONA

Ciacci Piccolomini d'Aragona Winery is located south-east in Montalcino, Tuscany and covers an area of 220 hectares, 55.5 of which are dedicated to vineyards: the landscape is the idyllic one of the Tuscan countryside, surrounded by hills and with Monte Amiata as a background. It was in the first half of the 20th century that following the marriage between Count Alberto Piccolomini of Aragon and Elda Ciacci, the centuries-old estate of the 17th century Palazzo del Vescovo became Palazzo Ciacci Piccolomini d'Aragona. In 1985 it passed in inheritance to Giuseppe Bianchini, factor of the estate, who carried out an increase in production with the aim of look at the foreign market too. The company vineyards are partly located in Val d'Orcia, a Unesco World Heritage Site: mainly of Sangiovese grosso grape, the vines grow on clayey soils and give rise to clusters with large berries and with a thick skin, typical of the Montalcino area. The company has two cellars, the oldest one dating back to the seventeenth century in which the finest wines are refined and the most recent one which, in addition to being the official seat, is the place where the winemaking phases take place. Since 2004 following the death of Giuseppe, the company has been in the hands of the children Paolo and Lucia who still carry on the passion of their father and the family tradition while maintaining a firm bond with the territory.
