The pure Nebbiolo grapes used to produce this prestigious Barolo DOCG from Giovanni Rosso Winery come from the Cru Vigna Rionda in Serralunga d'Alba. The vineyards face south, at an altitude of approximately 325-360 metres above sea level. After manual harvesting in October, the grapes are gently pressed and the must is fermented in steel tanks in contact with the skins, according to traditional red wine-making methods. The final stage of ageing takes place in 16 hl Slavonian oak barrels for a period ranging from 18 to 36 months.
Characteristics of this Piedmont wine
It has a ruby red colour with deeper reflections. The nose is striking with an explosion of floral notes of violet and rose, but also liquorice, wild berries and white truffle. The palate is superb but delicate, with perfect balance.
Recommended pairings with this Barolo from Giovanni Rosso
Excellent with particularly elaborate red meat and game dishes: pigeon in Barolo, goat casserole. Also try it with mature cheeses such as Castelmagno blu. Serve at a temperature of 16-18°C.
