VANZINI

The Vanzini Winery represents one of the most significant historical sites in the Oltrepò Pavese, a symbolic area of Lombard viticulture and the Italian homeland of Pinot Noir. Founded in 1890 in San Damiano al Colle, the company began as a family winery and is still led today by the Vanzini family, now in their fourth generation, who continue to preserve the area's winemaking tradition with a production style that combines artisanal experience and technological innovation. The cellar's uniqueness lies in its strong connection with the Oltrepò area. The vineyards extend between San Damiano al Colle, Montù Beccaria, Canneto Pavese and Montecalvo Versiggia, on hills characterised by clayey-limestone soils rich in marl and sandstone, particularly suitable for the cultivation of grape varieties such as Pinot Noir, Croatina, Barbera, Riesling and Moscato. The Oltrepò Pavese, thanks to its location between the Po Valley and the Ligurian Apennines, benefits from significant temperature variations that favor slow and aromatically complex ripening. One of Vanzini's distinctive elements is the valorization of native grape varieties and the historical typologies of the area. The winery is particularly known for its Bonarda dell'Oltrepò Pavese, Sangue di Giuda, and Pinot Noir sparkling wines, produced using both the Martinotti Method and the DOCG Classic Method. The Vanzini family is also recognized for having contributed to the promotion of the Bonarda vivace dell'Oltrepò, leading it to obtain important national recognition. The production philosophy of the company is based on the balance between tradition and modernity. The grapes are carefully selected in the vineyard and vinified using techniques that aim to preserve territorial identity, aromatic freshness, and elegance. Over the years, the winery has expanded its production while maintaining a strong family footprint and a particular focus on quality, environmental sustainability, and technological innovation. Today Vanzini produces over fifteen labels distributed both in Italy and abroad, exporting Oltrepò Pavese wines to numerous international markets.
