SAN FELICE
The farm San Felice is located in a village in the municipality of Castelnuovo Berardenga, not far from the city of Siena. The complex has ancient origins, and it has been slowly established around the Pieve di San Felice in Pincis, dating back to 714 A.D. Today the structure, owned by the Allianz S.p.A., is really high level, and in addition to the production of wines and olive oil, can also boast a fantastic hotel, recently become part of the chain Relais & Chateaux. The company covers an immense area of 650 hectares, of which 140 are intended for the cultivation of vines, located partly in the center of the production area of Chianti Classico and partly in the area of Brunello di Montalcino, interspersed with land dedicated to the production of oil, obtained from over 17,000 olive trees present. The terroir, thanks to the perfect combination of height above sea level and microclimate characterized by important temperature variations, allows the best cultivation of the different varieties present, among which there are Sangiovese, Colorino, Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon, pugnitello, petit verdot, trebbiano and chardonnay. Moreover, in the vineyards, since the 90s, zonation has been carried out, to identify those specific macroareas in which each grape is able to express itself at its best, compatible with the geopedological characteristics of each area. San Felice is an innovative company, which is also proposed as a bulwark of protection for the landscape of Chianti, working with sustainable practices that seek the least possible environmental impact and the protection of biodiversity. Every year bottles are produced that represent only the best of Tuscany, with different labels, perfect to meet the needs of every enthusiast. A note of merit goes to "Il Grigio" and "Poggio Rosso", both different expressions of the new legislative typology introduced at the top of all the production of Chianti Classico, that is the "Gran Selezione".
