The variety Riesling was introduced in Trentino Alto Adige around the half of the 19th Century from the archduke Giovanni d’Asburgo, who found in the lands around Magrè the perfect conditions for the growth of this plant. Today, due to global warming effects, it is suggested to cultivate at 600 meters of elevation. The vineyard called Rain in Penone, thank to its slope and its orientation south-south east with its morainic lands is the best place for this vine variety. Single variety wine making with 100% Riesling grapes, coming from selected vineyards in Penone and Magrè, located at 250-570 meters over the sea level. The soils are full of sand, gravel and moraine while the ones in Magrè are composed by limestone. The vineyards are between 26-27 years old. The harvest starts from 26 September and ends on 11 October. The process is followed by the fermentation at controlled temperature in steel containers. The aging is developed in steel too, on fine sedimentation for a period of 6 months in order to preserve the freshness of the perfume.
Features of this white Riesling
This wine has a straw yellow colour with some green reflections. The perfume is only a little aromatic, but with an interesting bouquet, rich of mature fruits like apricot, peach and floral hints. The taste is medium structured, refined, dynamic and dry. It is able to sustain an aging of 2-6 years.
Recommended food pairings while tasting this white Alois Lageder
Excellent with starters, fish, grilled or fried crustaceans, white meat and poultry. It has to be served at 10° C in a high, wide glass.
