The mono varietal wine of Hofstätter’s Pinot Noir boasts the Denominazione di Origine Controllata - Alto Adige DOC. The Pinot Noir vine was successfully introduced in South Tyrol at the beginning of the 19th century. It was soon confirmed that the gentle slopes and microclimate of the Mazon plateau offered ideal conditions for producing Pinot Noir of international stature. The soil on which these vineyards are located is characterized by the prevalent presence of clay conglomerate, limestone and porphyry. The careful process of vinification requires that the grapes are separated at 75% and for 25% poured intact in barrels. The fermentation lasts about 10 days and during this period the must is always in direct contact with the skins. This wine comes from the vineyards of Mazzon, universally considered as the home of the best Italian Pinot Noir, Hofstätter’s Alto Adige Pinot Nero DOC "Meczan" is a wine of great typicality, ideal for those who in this type of wines mainly seek roundness, fragrance and a clear fruity character. Vinified partially with the stalks and on the skins and left to mature in steel alone is a wine that stands out for the finesse and typicality given by the territory.

Serving suggestions by tasting this Hofstatter wine
It is a wine considered throughout the meal, Hofstätter’s Pinot Noir "Meczan" goes well with dishes of noble poultry, roasts, first courses with meat sauce. Try it with a great "poor" dish of Tyrolean gastronomic tradition such as barley soup.
