Champagne La Grande Année by Bollinger it is the maximum expression of the prestige of the house of Champagne . It is produced only on exceptional occasions, when the balance between nature, man and the production process reaches an exceptional synergistic balance. This champagne represents the celebration of an exceptional vintage. The blend for its winemaking is of great complexity. Made from 70% grapes Pinot Noir and 30% of grapes Chardonnay , is made up of 13 crus (vine varieties). For Pinot Noir they are those deriving from the micro zones of the Ay and Verzenay denomination. While for Chardonnay the selections come from: Avize, Chouilly and Mesnil-sur-Oger. In any case, only the Grand Crus (95%) is selected for this exceptional production, i.e. the very first harvest directly from the vine and 5% of Premier cru selection in (wooden box). Fermentation takes place in special wooden barrels intended for this exceptional champagne. The year for the Maison Bollinger was among the best of its existence. Very high quality of the grapes and the right degree of youth, together with the temperate climate, the good ventilation and exposure as well as the generosity of the harvest which have allowed the Champagnes to express themselves not only in taste but also in the broad and enveloping aromas.
Characteristics of the Champagne Brut "Grande Annee"
The sensations and organoleptic impressions give us a prestigious Champagne which presents itself with a delicate color, with very light golden reflections which represent the adequate maturity of the wine, encouraged by the traditional Bollinger winemaking method. On the nose it expresses itself with great complexity of notes. From honey to gingerbread, cinnamon and the aromas of dried fruit and dried flowers such as hazelnut and lime. On the palate you can feel all its maturation, the softness and fullness which manifest themselves with exceptional roundness and refinement. The effervescence is silky and creamy which, together with adequate acidity, restores freshness of flavor to the palate.
