Maison Lanson, originally from Reims, in northeastern France, was founded in 1760 and is one of the oldest champagne producers. Its name pays homage to the British Royal Family, to whom the Maison served as a supplier. This Maison's Brut Black Label Champagne is created using premium grapes from over 100 different crus, half of which are designated Grand or Premier Cru. Once the harvest is complete, the Pinot Noir, Chardonnay, and Meunier grapes are vinified separately. This begins the first fermentation, during which the vins clairs rest for several months without undergoing malolactic fermentation until they are then blended to create the final cuvée. The second fermentation then takes place in the bottle with a period of at least 36 months sur lattes, which allows this champagne to achieve a characteristic note.
Characteristics of this Brut Champagne
Upon tasting, it displays an intense straw yellow color and a creamy, fine perlage. The bouquet develops floral and fruity notes, especially green apple and pear, but also hints of toasted bread and brioche. On the palate, it is minerally and fruity with a distinct creaminess.
Recommended pairings with this brut champagne
Try it with fish-based dishes: appetizers, starters, tartare, or hot starters. Serve at a temperature of 8-10°C in a balloon flute, a glass with a characteristic shape that favors the perlage and accentuates the olfactory bouquet.
