The "Massetino" of Ornellaia Winery is a wine obtained from Merlot and Cabernet Franc grapes hand-picked in the prestigious Masseto hill in Bolgheri. Each single parcel is vinified separately and fermentation takes place with indigenous yeasts in barrique. After a year the wine is assembled and put back in cask for another 3 months before being then bottled.
Characteristics of this Tuscan red wine
At the organoleptic examination this Tuscan wine shows a full red color; the nose reveals hints of ripe red fruits and hints of licorice and oak. On the palate it shows itself as an intense, full-bodied and structured wine with strong tannins and a nice acidity.
