VALLE ISARCO
"In South Tyrol, the Isarco Valley can boast of a thousand-year wine tradition, to the point that the first testimonies related to the cultivation of vines and the production of wine date back as far as 500 B.C., and are represented by some archaeological finds and grape seeds. Already in the Middle Ages, later, several written texts praised the wines produced in the area. However, since the end of 1800, the viticulture in the Valle Isarco was practically abandoned, and then experienced a new flowering in the second post-war period, starting from the 60s of the last century. It is precisely in 1961 that dates, in fact, the foundation of the "Cantina Produttori Valle Isarco", which despite being the youngest wine cooperative in South Tyrol, can boast a very respectable tradition, especially thanks to its fine white wines, that for years have occupied a place of honor in the ranking of the best white wines of the Peninsula and not only. From the initial 24 founding members, today we have passed to about 130 members, from eleven different municipalities, such as Varna, Bressanone, Funes/Tiso, Velturno, Chiusa, Laion, Castelrotto, Villandro, Barbiano, Fié and Renon. The vineyards cover a total area of 140 hectares, with an average annual production of 750 thousand bottles. Among the rows, respect for the microclimate is maximum, the environment, the ecosystem and biodiversity, and even in the cellar is not much different is the philosophy, for which the grapes are processed in the sign of the highest quality, enhancing and exalting all that the season and the territory have been able to express in the bunches. Here is then that the result is realized in a range of labels of absolute level, which in addition to the classic line also includes the lines "Sabiona", "Aristos", "Isaras" and "Nectaris". From Gewürztraminer to Sylvaner, from Kerner to Pinot Blanc, passing through Riesling, for Chardonnay, for Pinot Blanc and for Sauvignon, not to mention all the reds, are the wines, the ones labelled "Cantina Valle Isarco", they speak the language of the highest South Tyrolean oenological excellence. Simply extraordinary wines.
