Wine list | Toscana Igt |
A pure expression of Tuscany, born with the harvest of 1974 and since then produced only in the best years with Sangiovese grapes grown in the vineyard of the same name located at 400 meters above sea level: an area that has always been considered the best on the estate for the cultivation of this noble vine. The result is an intense wine with great aromas and long persistence. The provenance is that of the Castle of Nipozzano at an altitude of 400 meters above sea level. The lands have a South-West exposure. The type of soil is characterized by aridity and the conspicuous presence of alberese stones, clayey and calcareous, well drained, not very rich in organic matter. The plant density reaches 5,850 plants per hectare of land. The breeding is the classic Guyot one. The age of the vineyards is on average 20 years. For the vinification a maceration of at least 30 days is requested, immediately followed by the malolactic fermentation which is carried out after the alcoholic fermentation. The containers for aging selected are those of 30-hectolitre Austrian and French oak barrels. The refinement time is made up of 18 months in cask and 6 in the bottle before release.
Characteristics of the MONTESODI Toscana IGT wine
This wine of the Tuscan tradition has an intense ruby red appearance, with garnet reflections. The scent is intense, fresh, fragrant, mineral, with hints of bergamot, cherry blossom, violet, medlar. The taste-olfactory correspondence with the taste is perfect; on the palate is persistent, mineral, with a mature and silky toasted tannin. Note of black cherry in alcohol, hints of strawberry tree and candied citron, muscovado sugar and hints of coffee powder, fruity notes of white stone fruit.
