Macallan

Founded in 1824 by Alexander Reid, Macallan is still synonymous with top-quality spirits, so much that Macallan Single Malt is one of the world's best-selling whiskies. Originally the area of origin was called "Maghellan" from the Gallic word "magh" meaning land and "Ellan", the name of the monk linked to the church that stood on the land. This area was located in the Speyside region of Scotland, on the banks of the River Spey, which is particularly rich in barley crops and therefore naturally suited to the production of whisky. The entire production process is subject to strict controls, primarily the exclusive use of the highest quality barley and the use of characteristically shaped stills, the smallest in the entire region. During the production phase, spring water is also used, which flows beneath the farm, among rocks and minerals that give this whisky an unmistakable flavour. For ageing, oak casks previously used for ageing Sherry and Bourbon, from Spain and America, are used: it is thanks to this highly sought-after wood that Macallan whiskies achieve a certain aromatic complexity and their unmistakable taste.
